Indie singer/songwriter, Ellajay (formerly known as Stephanie Schecter) draws listeners in with her catchy melodies that are beautifully interwoven with soulful, haunting lyrics. Her music evokes raw and honest emotions whether she sings with a lilting voice about the pangs of unrequited love, gives insight into the very real battles of depression and anxiety, or serves up the sass about friends and ex-lovers.
"Being truthful and authentic in my music allows me to actually connect with others in real and deeper ways and that is just the best thing. It's healing to put whatever I'm going through into my art and see that people relate to it. It's saying neither of us are alone in this. That connection - that's when I feel most successful".
Based in Brooklyn, New York, Schecter's southern roots subtly influence her sound as she creates a unique blend fusing indie, alternative, folk, pop, and electronic music in exciting ways. As well as a talented musician, her passion for music and connecting with people through music led her to become a board-certified music therapist in 2016. Schecter has been writing and performing music since 2007 and currently is getting ready to release new music in 2020, starting with debut single "Monsters" out 10/2/20. *stay tuned*
